About Me

I am a mixed media artist based in Argyll on the west coast of Scotland. I like to experiment with different media, including acrylic, watercolour, inks, pastels, charcoal and collage, to create interesting effects and textures in my paintings. I mostly produce landscape paintings and I am inspired by the beautiful scenery all around me! I take many photos when I am out and about, which I often use as a starting point for my paintings along with my memories of the place and the experience.

My paintings usually tend to be semi-abstract, and I am more interested in creating a certain mood, atmosphere or emotion rather than producing realistic scenes, although sometimes I do enjoy the more focused pursuit of accurate representation, so I don’t limit myself to one genre or style. There are so many ways to produce art and I see myself as a perpetual student, constantly learning and experimenting. I find great joy and excitement in creating art and I hope this is evident in my paintings.
